Hot Springs Elks Lodge 1751 hammers in a good time at Festival

Body HOT SPRINGS – At the annual Main Street Arts and Crafts Festival held June 26-28th members of the Hot Springs Elks Lodge 1751 helped local and visiting youth build a birdhouse for themselves.

WWII Veteran finally receives grave marker appropriate for a hero

Body HOT SPRINGS – Wayne Leonard Wells passed away May 31, 2011, with little fanfare, the kind a hero would deserve. Laid to rest in Evergreen Cemetery in Hot Springs, Wells’ resting place was marked with a simple metal stake bearing his name, date of birth and date of death.

Fall River County States Attorney will be new Attorney General

Body RAPID CITY – This past weekend at the South Dakota Republican Convention in Rapid City, Lance Russell, the state’s attorney of Fall River and Oglala Lakota counties, won a three-way contest for the attorney general nomination that took two rounds of voting to decide.

Charles Hargens paintings enliven Pioneer Museum Art Gallery

Body HOT SPRINGS - For the second year, the Dakota Discovery Museum in Mitchell has loaned some of renowned artist Charles Hargens’s oil paintings to the Pioneer Museum, where the eight new canvases are showcased in its art gallery for the season.

A brief history of Angostura Dam

Body ORAL – Later this summer, Angostura Dam will celebrate 80 years when construction first began on the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation project, located on the Cheyenne River, about six miles as the crow flies from Hot Springs.

Ground breaking held for FRHS’s Cascade Hills Subdivision

Body HOT SPRINGS – Ground was officially broken on the new Cascade Hills Subdivision, located within the city limits of Hot Springs and near Fall River Health Services (FRHS) on Highway 71 (Cascade Road).

Irrigation District temporarily shuts down main canal to conserve water

Body ORAL – For the first time in recent history (and possibly ever), the Angostura Irrigation District has temporarily shut down the main canal as a way to conserve water for its customers.
