My father, who attended public schools, wanted to become an electrical engineer, but had to leave school to work to help support his family during the Depression. He then served in the US Navy in WW II. Later in life, he went back to school got education degrees, taught elementary school and finished his career as a middle school math teacher. My mother attended public schools, went back to college in her mid-30s, got degrees in education, taught in public schools, and ended her career as a professor of education in a public university. My bother attended public schools, including the prestigious Bronx High School of Science, and became a doctor. I attended public schools, got a Master’s degree in geology, and just retired from a 55 season career at Wind Cave National Park. My wife attended public schools, got a Master’s degree in English, and taught library and media skills in Wyoming public schools. My daughter-in law attended public schools, She earned two Bachelors’ degrees, one in biology and the other in science education, and is now flight medic. My son attended public schools and is now a supervisor of an Emergency Medical Services program.
Wow! Public school education in this country really stinks, doesn’t it!
