Richard H. Roske

Body

September 21, 1935 - December 18, 2025

Richard H. Roske (aka Rocky/Dick), 90, passed away on December 18, 2025 at his new home in Truth or Consequences, N.M. He was born in Ronan, Montana on September 21, 1935, the eldest of 4 sons born to John and Mildred (Arlint) Roske.

Dick joined the Navy in 1952, where he was a boxing champion and was offered a spot in the Olympics. During his time in the Navy, he went to Japen, China, Philippians, Australia, Guam, Panama, and Mexico on the USSA Titania aka 13. He considered himself a “ladies’ man” and was married 4 times before he finally gave up on marriage.

He lived in several states during his life, but his two favorite places to call home were Montana, where he was born and raised and Hot Springs, where he loved living for the past 22 years. He has worked many different jobs since he was 14 years old. However, his fondest ones were truck dispatcher at Cartage in Missoula Montana and working for the Hot Springs School district driving bus and doing custodial work, which he did until he was 87 years old. He really enjoyed working and loved the people he worked with. He finally retired when he realized that he could no longer keep up the pace that he was accustomed to.

As he aged, it became apparent that he needed to be near family. Therefore, on August 25, 2025, he moved to New Mexico to be close to his son. He is survived by his children, Bret Roske and Christa (Michael) Love; 6 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; brother, John “Jack” Roske; aunt, Barbara Anderson; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Fred and Howard Roske; beloved daughter-in-law, Sally “Sissy” Roske; two nephews, Beau and Craig Roske; and great-grandson, Aaron Love. Per his request, there will not be a funeral service.
