James ‘JD’ Means returned his soul to his maker on June 18, 2026. After a battle with cancer, he died peacefully at home surrounded by family.
JDe is survived by his best friend and wife of 52 years, Candace; children, Wanda Luthif of Gillette, Wyo., Cathy Means of Rapid City, Marcia Modec of Luther Okla., Patrick (Charlotte) Means of Gillette, Wyo.; Ginny (Mark) Murphy of Roosevelt, Utah and Clayton Means of Gillette Wyo.; brothers, Edward (Ursula) Means and Alvin Ogden; twelve grandchildren, many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and his sweet pooch, Rosie.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Lois, Leona, Shirley, Barbara, John, and Pauline; and 3 sons-in-laws, Denis, Branko, and Todd.
The family would like to thank Jessie, Keely and Billie from Stillwater Hospice.
Memorial service for JD was held Tuesday, June 23, 2026 at Gillette Memorial Chapel with Donnie Colby officiating.
