Body

April 16, 1937 to January 22, 2025

Helen Lavonne (Miller) Bollwerk was born April 16, 1937 in Edgemont, S.D., to Cecil May (Bond) & Alexander Earl Miller. Helen was married to Daniel David Bollwerk from Edgemont and is survived by their daughter, Victoria Lynn Davis (Kevin), Wichita, Kan.; grandchildren, Rayn (41) and Kyle (38); great grandchildren, Austin (8) & Jack (1 ½).

Helen was from a large family of 11 children with four brothers, oldest to youngest, Raymon Earl, Authur Edward, Norman Evertt, Donald Earnest and six sisters, oldest to youngest, Beulah Delores Graham, Nila Pearl Steffe, Doris Evelyn Burgess, Violet Marie Jones, Norma Jean, and Wanda Mae Blare, all deceased. Helen was the youngest of her siblings. Cecil & Alexander Miller moved from Numa, Iowa to Edgemont in 1924. Alexander worked at the Burlington Railroad roundhouse. The Millers had moved to Provo and then to Igloo when the Black Hills Army Depot opened in 1941 where Alexander started work, first as a BHAD Guard and then at the Igloo Water Plant.

Helen started school in 1944 in the Provo school system graduating from Provo High School in May 1957. Helen & Danny were married at St. James Catholic Church, Edgemont, on Aug. 31, 1957, and lived the rest of their years in Edgemont with Danny passing away in September 2014. Helen was pretty stubborn about leaving Edgemont and did not want to move in with Victoria & Kevin in Wichita, near her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Helen lived in her Cottonwood home in Edgemont and the last two years in her apartment until she fell and broke her hip just before Christmas and was moved to the Rapid City Hospital for hip surgery. After surgery Helen was moved back to the Hot Springs Hospital and to Seven Sisters Care Center Rehab where she passed away early morning on January 22, 2025. There will not be a funeral or memorial service.
