On Monday, February 12, 2024, David Allen Holloway, passed away peacefully in Hot Springs, S.D. David was born on Saturday, April 2, 1960, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Gordon Farrell and Barbara Annie (Eugster) Holloway.
David withdrew from school after completing 10th grade. During his time after high school, he enjoyed playing basketball. He and his two brothers, Todd and Gary, along with 2 others, would play against a team of 5 from Rapid City.
On Wednesday, June 28, 1978, David enlisted in the United States Army in Fargo, N.D. He was promoted to Private First Class on Wednesday, February 14, 1979, while stationed in Germany. He received an honorable discharge from the U.S. Army on Friday, June 22, 1979, after serving for one year. During his time in service, he received commendations for his skills as a marksman with an M16.
David worked various construction jobs throughout his life. He worked for Habitat for Humanity in Minnesota and various jobs in South Dakota.
David loved lifting weights. He took a lot of pride in his 19inch biceps and in his strength. He took a lot of pride in his long hair, claiming that it gave him his strength. David had Native American heritage which he was very proud of. He had roots with the Wampanoag Tribe, what a great lineage!
In 2019, David’s daughter completed her Certified Nursing Assistant which he was very proud of. He loved his family and friends.
David is survived by his children, Shannon David Pellet and Amanda Marie (Joseph) Albanese; siblings, Susan Marie Loamanu, Tammy Lynn Peterson, Gary Dean Holloway and Cathy Lee Stewart; grandchildren, Trey, Skylar, Collin and Breanne; Great grandchild, Kinsey; and stepmother, Nannette Vonk.
He is predeceased by his parents and his siblings, Lynda Lother, Todd Holloway, Gregg Holloway and Brent Holloway.
Committal services were held Friday, February 16, 2024, at Black Hills National Cemetery with military honors presented and a song by a Native American drum group.
