March 1, 1942 – February 12, 2025
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved Carl William Atchley, who left this world peacefully at home on February 12, 2025. He was a devoted father, a proud Air Force veteran, and a man of unwavering integrity who left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
Born on March 1, 1942, Carl proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1961 to 1965. His dedication to his country was a source of immense pride, a reflection of his steadfast commitment to service and honor. After his military service, he pursued his education, earning a bachelor’s degree in business from NCB College in 1970. His career led him to work with the government in Colorado, where his knowledge and dedication made a lasting impact.
Carl met and married the love of his life, Donna, and they were married for 67 years.
Above all, he was a loving father to his six children, Teresa, Tracy, Steven, David, Tamara, and Dustin; proud grandfather to 12, and a cherished great-grandfather to 20. He found his greatest joy in traveling, especially on cruises, where he embraced life’s adventures with enthusiasm. He took great pride in both his military service and education, values he instilled in his family.
A service honoring his life will be held at a later date in the spring. Carl will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
Arrangements have been placed in the care of Chamberlain McColley’s Funeral Home in Hot Springs, S.D.
