With heavy hearts full of love and gratitude, we celebrate the life of a remarkable woman whose kindness, laughter, and loving spirit touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Bob Hamaker and Lois Redden (Roller) welcomed Diane into this world on December 7, 1971, Lois’s birthday. This created a very special bond between Diane and her mom. She spent her childhood in Edgemont where she made a lot of great memories and gained lifelong friends. She later moved to Rapid City, where she lived for quite some time. But Edgemont was always home in her heart.
She worked the majority of her life in hospitality, but her true life’s work was taking care of people. Whether she was helping a friend, comforting a neighbor, or even a stranger. She had the gift of making everyone feel like family. As she was also a second mom to many of her daughter’s friends.
She will be remembered for her beauty, her contagious smile that could brighten any room, her playful sense of humor, and her ability to make everyone feel seen and loved. She loved to visit and anyone who knew her was very well aware of that.
Her greatest pride and joy was her girls and grand kids. She enjoyed every moment that she spent with them. Whether it was family vacations, laughing until their bellies hurt, or just simply enjoying time together.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Lois. She is survived by her four daughters: Jessica, Brittney, Ashley, and MaKayla (Savon); her seven grandchildren: Milaina, Taylah, DonVito, Nevaeh, Trinity, Leo, and Sawyer; siblings: Cheryl (Joe), Grant (Sara), Jody (Jim), and Donny; and long term partner, Billy. As well as numerous extended family members, who adored her.
Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy for unconditional love, kindness, laughter, and compassion will live on forever in the hearts of all that knew her.
Services will be on Friday, July 24 at 2 p.m. at United Church in Edgemont with a celebration of life to follow at The Victory Bar.
