A celebration of life will take place on August 8, 2026, from 2:00-4:00 p.m., at the Andersen Ranch in Edgemont, S.D.
Michael Allen Andersen passed away on February 7, 2026 at the age of 75 at his home in South St. Paul, Minnesota.
Michael was born in Newcastle, Wyo. on August 8, 1950. He is preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Charlotte Andersen and younger brother, Chris Andersen.
Michael’s career began with the United States Navy from 1968-1972, after he worked at Silver King Mining in Edgemont, S.D., then later, he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from South Dakota School of Mines & Technology and ultimately retired in this field, where he designed structural framework for local homes and businesses.
Mike enjoyed spending time outdoors and grew up working on the family ranch with brothers, Don, Bob and Chris. Later in life he found joy traveling to Yellowstone National Park to photograph wildlife, visiting with friends at the local donut shop, and watching baseball.
Michael is survived by his children, Todd Andersen (Alicia) New York, Erik Andersen (Jessy) Minnesota, and Elissa Nesheim (Bob) Minnesota; brothers, Bob Andersen (Pamela) Arizona and Don Andersen (Lynda) South Dakota, and five grandchildren, Todd Jr., Annalise, Ash, Ailynn and Tobias.
