Lynette passed away peacefully June 22, 2025, at her home in Edgemont, S.D., surrounded by her family. She was born August 20, 1951 in Martin, S.D. to Lavere “Bud” and Lois Hanes.
Lynette is survived by her loving partner, Bob Sherlin, (loyal dog Walter); three brothers, Les (Brittney) Hanes of Custer, Lloyd (Pat) Hanes of Yankton, and Larry (Julie) Hanes of Pierre; five children, Terri (Dan) Goldade of Mandan, N.D., Myron (Shona) Miller of Roswell, N.M., Steve (Misty) McCabe of Custer, Miria (Matt) Wilson of Tremonton, Utah, and Ashley (Ken) McCabe of Sturgis; 14 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Lynette was preceded in death by her parents, Lavere “Bud” and Lois Hanes; late husband, Steven “Pee-wee” McCabe, and sister Linda Sedlacek.
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
