Emily V. Entwisle, 97, of Huron, S.D., passed away on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at Huron Regional Medical Center. Her Mass of Christian Burial was held Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at Welter Funeral Home in Huron. Burial followed at St. Martin Cemetery. Visitation with her family present was Monday, December 9, 2024 at Welter Funeral Home.

Emily Veronica Bullerman was born on July 29, 1927, to Theodore and Martha (Kellen) Bullerman in Nobles County, near Adrian, Minnesota. She was raised on a farm and graduated from St. Adrian High School in 1945. She enrolled in the Presentation School of Nursing (McKennan Unit) at Sioux Falls in June of 1945 as a Cadet Nurse and graduated with a RN Degree in 1948.

She was employed at the Adrian Hospital. On January 3, 1951, Emily married Bob Entwisle at St. Adrian Catholic Church. They made their home in Adrian until September 1951, when they moved to Mitchell, S.D. She was employed at St. Joseph’s Hospital as a supervisor of the pediatric ward until October of 1955, when they moved to Huron.

Emily was employed part-time as a surgical nurse at St. John’s Hospital until 1958, then was employed at Welter Funeral Home. She was a licensed funeral director for over 40 years from 1958 until she retired in 1998.

Emily was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Parish, American Legion Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary, and the Huron Area Senior Center.

Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and providing comfort to the many families Bob and Emily served over the years at Welter Funeral Home.

She is survived by her two sons, John Entwisle of Hot Springs, and James (Lori) Entwisle of Huron; five grandchildren, Eamin, Megan (Matt), Lavin (Jeremy), Cassidy, and Colin; two great-grandchildren, Raegan and Mason; one sister, Mary Lutmer of Luverne, Minn.; and many nieces and nephews; She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bob; her daughter-in-law, GayLynne Entwisle; her sisters, Berniece Kruger, Rita Kunkel, and Agnes Neuroth; her brother, Ted Bullerman, Jr., three brothers-in-law, Norb Kunkel, Raymond Neuroth, and Delbert Lutmer; and sister-in-law, Henrietta Bullerman.
