Local dentist pranks downtown construction crews As downtown street construction crews were excavating in front of Dr. Pete Sotherland’s dental office, they found a skeleton buried under the foundation. As his own April Fool’s joke, Sotherland had buried part of a diagnostic skeleton while the crews were at lunch, and then sat back to watch the reactions of the unsuspecting workers when they returned.

No need for city, school election in Hot Springs

Body HOT SPRINGS – Neither the City of Hot Springs nor the Hot Springs School District will be holding elections in June, due to lack of competition amongst candidates. In fact, both entities are still seeking people to submit letters of intent to fill some open seats.

Vietnam Veterans welcomed home with American Legion feast

Body HOT SPRINGS – More than 50 Vietnam Veterans attended the annual American Legion Riders and Auxiliary Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans feast held Saturday, March 30, at the American Legion Hall in Hot Springs.

Body EDGEMONT – In a display of intellectual prowess and team spirit, the Edgemont High School and Middle School Quiz Bowl teams showcased their talents at the Panhandle Conference Tournament held in Sioux County on Monday, March 18.

No need for election in Edgemont next month

Body EDGEMONT – The Edgemont municipal election for city council and school board – which is normally held in April – will not be necessary this year due to lack of competition. Instead, all current incumbent candidates will maintain their respective seats.
