Production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is coming to HSHS

Body HOT SPRINGS – Hot Springs High School recently was awarded the rights to perform the high school edition of the Broadway performance of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child; the only school in South Dakota to be awarded such an honor.

Fall River Feedyard: A cornerstone of the state’s cattle industry

Body ORAL – Just south of Maverick Junction and east of Highway 18/385 and Angostura Reservoir lies the largest feed yard in South Dakota, the Fall River Feedyard.

Round Top Fire burns 74.5 acres

Body HOT SPRINGS – A thunderstorm that moved through the area last Friday evening, July 26, sparked about a half dozen wildfires, the largest of which was the 74.5 acre Round Top Fire located on private land five miles southwest of Hot Springs.

Commission approves hand-counting votes in general election

Body HOT SPRINGS – On July 18, the Fall River County commissioners decided to lead the way for handcounting votes in the general election. They discussed pros and cons of either using tabulators or hand counting. County Auditor Sue Ganje presented information on voting with tabulators.

Construction woes vented at council meeting

Body HOT SPRINGS – Frustrations by the business community regarding the downtown highway reconstruction project were vented during last Monday night’s Hot Springs City Council meeting on July 15.
Residents on this quad-plex apartment building on N. 6th Street in Hot Springs had to be evacuated in the middle of the night after the siding on the structure started on fire. Fireworks believed to have started apartment fire

Body HOT SPRINGS – Local law enforcement is investigating some incidents of vandalism which includes the incineration of three mailboxes due to fireworks, as well as a structure fire which is believed to have also been caused by fireworks.
