Chinese-American Civil War Veteran’s unique story made into musical

Body HOT SPRINGS — Among the thousands of veterans housed over the decades at the Battle Mountain Sanitarium (now the VA Hospital), all with tales of service and heroism, few have their lives memorialized for posterity in a musical.

Thomas met with members of the Oelrichs Historical Society recently to search for information about her greatgrandparents, Abner and Ada Gilpin, who homesteaded in the Oelrichs area from 1908 to 1917. Australian woman travels to Oelrichs to find her roots

Body OELRICHS - Bronwyn Thomas travelled over 9000 miles from the Australian island of Tasmania to stand on the same prairie her greatgrandparents stood over 100 years ago.
Land currently owned by Fall River Health Services, located just west of the Hot Springs Ambulance facility, was annexed into the city limits last week and represents the first step in the creation of a Planned Unit Development for future workforce housing. Body HOT SPRINGS – After almost two years of fund raising and finding the perfect artists and design, the mural on the north side of University Avenue is now underway. “I am very excited to see the mural coming to fruition,” said Petra Wilson.
