Oelrichs youth harvests potential Fall River County record whitetail

Body HOT SPRINGS – Young Ian Ferley from Oelrichs earned “legendary hunter” status on Sunday, Nov. 24, when the 13-year-old, 7th grade student of Edgemont Middle School brought down what could be the largest whitetail buck ever harvested in Fall River County.

Upon his retirement, County declares Franklin Maynard Day, Nov. 21

Body HOT SPRINGS – When the Fall River County commissioners met on Thursday, Nov. 21, they honored retiring county Emergency Manager Frank Maynard by designating November 21 as Franklin Maynard Day. He is retiring after 22 years and 11 months of service to the county.

Body EDGEMONT – On Tuesday, November 19, the South Dakota Apprenticeship Summit honored Edgemont resident Sydney Belt as South Dakota’s Outstanding Apprentice of the Year, at a Rapid City banquet sponsored by Start Today South Dakota.

Edgemont City Council honors Joan Olson as Citizen of the Year

Body EDGEMONT–OnTuesday, November 19, Edgemont City Council awarded the firstever Citizen of the Year award to Joan Olson, for service to the community.
Battle Mountain Avenue, shown above on Monday, Nov. 25, represents the final completed stretch of the Hot Springs Urban Reconstruction project which began Feb. 28, 2022, on the opposite side of town near Taco John’s. American Legion Family honors Veterans, serves community with pride

Body HOT SPRINGS – Veterans Day 2024 began with a pageantry of honor at all the local schools with State Home Veterans in attendance and ended with a brick memorial garden dedication and a free Veterans Feast at the American Legion.
