Attend Elevate Rapid City Crackerbarrel this Saturday
Well, the finish line is in sight for the 99th legislative session. Even though we only have two weeks left, this is “crunch” time for legislators. During this small window of time there will be long hours, and intense negotiating between the members of the House and the Senate. Funding requests will be finalized along with ultimately producing a balanced budget. By state law, we must have a balanced budget at the end of each legislative session. Last week we had a visit from Senator Rounds who told us all to keep up the good work. He noted that we, in South Dakota, accomplish more in just 40 days than any other state does in a year, producing a balanced budget at the end of the process. I, for one, am very proud of the work we do behind the scenes that helps to make the process work and to get the work done within that small window of time.
This weekend I will be attending the Elevate Rapid City Cracker-barrel on Saturday, March 2nd. I’d like to personally invite you to come, grab a cup of coffee & join in the conversation with West River Legislators from Districts 30, 31, 32, 33, 34 & 35. The meeting is at Western Dakota Tech, from 9 am to 11 am. Western Dakota Tech is located at 800 Michelson Drive, Rapid City, SD. For more information or to review their code of conduct visit www.elevaterapidcity.com. It is a great opportunity to hear from the other district legislators in attendance and input on significant issues facing the state. You will see firsthand where we as legislators agree and/or disagree on key issues. There is always lively debate and great discussion. Hope to see
